Joey Bada$$ returns with a new single “Where I Belong” and added a visual to go with it. This all comes ahead of his third studio album release titled “2000”.
The Backstory:
The track is a vulnerable reflection on a life of fame and success and how he’s trying to keep it together. The album is produced by Statik Selektah.
On the closing verse, the Brooklyn born artist said, “Tryna get my thoughts together. I say a prayer every day, hopin’ it all get better/I talk to God a lot, these verses is like open letters/I know that nothin’ really last forever”.
The Bada$$ Past:
Previously before “Where I Belong”, Joey delivered us “The Rev3nge” along with “Head High”. Although it’s unclear if these songs will make the cut for the upcoming project “2000” originally set to release June 17th but was set back because of sample clearing problems it is said Joey will be revealing the new release date this Friday July 1st.
Last week at the BET awards Bada$$ spoke with vibe about what to expect from his latest collective.
He said, “On the new album 2000, what should be expected is that classic Joey sound. You know what I’m saying? That authentic Joey. Everything that you want out of Joey Badass, you’re going to get from this project right here. I’m excited for this”.
