Tim Westwood Has A History of Allegations
Tim Westwood, the controversial and outspoken founder, and editor-in-chief of Capital Xtra, is under investigation by the Metropolitan Police for sexual misconduct. The investigation was first reported by The Guardian. This report says that Westwood is being investigated for “sexual assault, sexual misconduct, and gross misconduct”. The allegations against the news mogul are serious, and if proven, could result in him facing jail time.
Metropolitan police’s statement didn’t include Westwood’s name, but they confirmed that the allegations are from 1982, 1985, 2010, and 2016.
A statement from The Scotland Yard read, “Detectives from the Met’s Central Specialist Crime continue to investigate four reports relating to allegations of non-recent sexual offenses allegedly committed by a man. The offenses are alleged to have occurred in London in 1982, 1985, 2010, and 2016. There have been no arrests, inquiries continue.”
The investigative report into these allegations was published by The Guardian and BBC News earlier this year. Several women stepped forward to report his behavior, however, his behavior was not confirmed in the report.
Westwood has denied the allegations against him. He has even gone so far as to suggest that the women who have come forward are the ones being investigated for sexual misconduct. He denied the claims that BBC News had any knowledge of his alleged misconduct prior to the investigation being published. However, the DJ has faced additional suspicion in the wake of the investigative report and his response to the allegations. He has been accused of attempting to discredit the women who have come forward. The Metropolitan Police confirmed in July that they had received at least six complaints regarding unprofessional behavior, such as bullying and sexual misconduct.
