The Weeknd Signs Long Term Deal

It’s no secret that the Weeknd is a massive star, and it appears that The Weeknd is growing in popularity every year. The Toronto singer has accomplished a tremendous amount in his 13-year career. Thanks to the support of his label Republic Records. And their collaboration is set to be maintained in the coming years. The Weeknd signs a long-term deal with Universal Music Group.

On April 28th, Universal Music Group, the parent company of Republic Records, announced an extended global partnership agreement in conjunction with The Weeknd. According to the release, the deal strengthens the relationship between them. It will let Universal Music Group handle the artist’s entire catalog of music and audiovisual and merchandise projects.

The Weeknd Signs Massive Deal with Universal Music Group

Universal Music Group’s top brand management and merchandise business, Bravado, will also be supporting The Weeknd. He will be helping with expanding and creating global branding, merchandising, and e-commerce. As well as retail licensing opportunities for future projects and new releases.

Universal Music Group had a lot of great things to say about the singer. The chairman and CEO of Universal talks about The Weeknd “Over the past decade, we have been honored to work closely with The Weeknd. He is a once in a generation talent.” The CEO gives him high praise and is looking forward to the future.

The agreement comes after the Weeknd released another album that was a huge success. The album debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 and broke their Global 200 chart record. The Weeknd had 24 songs charting during the initial week of the project. The feat led to the sole male artist having this many songs chart simultaneously.

The Weeknd is now more motivated than ever to make music for his fans. The massive long-term deal with Universal Music group will drive him to live up to the agreement. As The Weeknd signs the long-term deal, he is focused and excited for the future.
