Lil Uzi Vert’s New Look
Lil Uzi Vert seems to be enjoying his new spiky hairstyle. However, Tech N9ne warns that he may not know what he is getting himself into.
As a nod to his punk influences, Eternal Atake debuted a liberty spikes hairdo earlier this year. This seemingly putting an end to his signature neon-colored dreadlocks.
For his performance at Rolling Loud Miami, Uzi dyed the tips of his hair red, further enhancing his striking new look. See his Instagram Post below.
Tech N9ne, had previously worn red-tipped liberty spikes earlier in his career. He warned Lil Uzi Vert against overdoing it with his locks- if he doesn’t want to become totally bald.
“TRUST ME @liluzivert ! This is how this process ends,” The Strange Music MC wrote on Instagram on Monday (July 27), juxtaposing an old photo of his spiky hair with his now-hairless dome. “Real spill though!”
Pluto’s followers clearly found Tech’s advice entertaining, even though Pluto hasn’t responded. “Tech trying to save uzi hair!!” one person wrote. Another added, “I’m getting to the end result without even experiencing the first pics.”
Tech N9ne’s Spiky Hair Experience
In a Facebook post from 2018, Tech N9ne detailed the damage his red spikes had done to his natural hair, and the inconveince it caused him.
“I could hardly get into a car with my tall spiked hair! It was so sharp, I could put your fuckin eye out!” he wrote. “All my beautiful Choctaw Native, Creole and Ethiopian hair was damaged by All the Ice gel, extra strength Spritz and continuous dye! Be warned New rappers! Lol Lol Lol.”
Throughout his career, the Kansas City native has been accused of being a devil worshipper due to his eccentric appearance. In 2018 he asked why Lil Uzi Vert hasn’t received the same treatment, despite his upside down cross chain.
“Ok guys, excuse my ignorance but, I’ve never wore an upside down cross out of respect for my elders who follow Christianity. I’ve never worshipped a devil like people have said I did either but, THIS is an upside down cross on this superstar’s neck right?”. “Right! How is he not shunned by the black folks that turned their back on me in 2001 due to my imagery being satanic in their eyes? He went on to say, “Not that I want this young brotha to be shunned. I just wanna understand how folks can look at my painted face and say devil and satan but not look at his painted face (L9L) with an UPSIDE DOWN CROSS and NOT say devil and satan? Help me out y’all! I ask with love in my heart and NEVER hate!”
The eccentric hairstyle of Tech N9ne was eventually replaced by a more conventional cut. In 2007, he told SF Station that he “started looking like a silly clown” so he decided to change things up.
Lil Uzi Is No Stranger To Unique Looks
Whether Lil Uzi Vert will remain sporting those red liberty spikes on his head will remain to be seen. A $24 million pink diamond implanted in the Philadelphia native’s forehead previously raised eyebrows. It was revealed in June that he had a massive oni mask tattooed on his chest and back.
Last week, Uzi released the Red & White EP, teasing fans with five new songs. This will have to do until The Pink Tape, his long-awaited third studio album, arrives.
