Hot 97’s Summer Jam this past Sunday had Roddy Ricch telling us exactly how he felt. “Fuck the NYPD” was the chant he led with the audience during his show. His reason? He was detained on gun charges at the Governors Ball Music Festival in Queens, New York. Luckily he was released from custody on Sunday and still had enough time to make it to his set on New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium at the Hot 97’s Summer Jam. His fans were particularly excited for “ROCKSTAR,” his collaboration with DaBaby. But before the two rappers performed, Roddy had other ways he was going to hype up his fans.
“I need everybody to say ‘fuck NYPD,’” Roddy began chanting. The whole stadium filled up with the same energy.
Roddy Ricch Gets Arrested Before Practicing For The Festival
As previously reported, Roddy Ricch had practice for his performance on Saturday at the Gov Ball’s festival grounds. When the LIVE LIFE FAST rapper was stopped at a security checkpoint, he was found with nine rounds of ammo and a large-capacity magazine after searching his vehicle. Roddy was with two others in the vehicle, and all were arrested. Roddy was then released from Custody on Sunday. He was charged with four counts of criminal possession of a weapon, possession of a large capacity ammo feeding device, and unlawful possession of that device. According to the New York Daily News, the charges were reportedly dropped since then.
Fetty Wap Shares Some Similarities
Roddy Ricch was arrested after Fetty Wap was being detained in 2021 on federal drug charges. This was also right before Fetty took the stage at Rolling Loud New York, which was also at Citi Field. The two share some similarities!
