Coachella was back in the Valley after an absence of two years due to the pandemic. Mike Posner and Big Sean make an appearance.
This year, Coachella included a bit of Detroit’s west side into the desert since Big Sean was one of the leading performers at the festival. The rapper’s first-ever solo Coachella performance. He previously made guest appearances both in the year 2016 and the year 2019.
The performance of Big Sean was well-received, and clips from both festival weekends have been shared on social media. While many were pleased with the fact that Big Sean’s “IDFWU” rapper brought out special guests YG and Jhene Aiko for the opening weekend. The unexpected appearance on the second weekend made the old Big Sean fans talk.
During his performance, Sean brought out his long-time friend Mike Posner. And the two of them performed “Cooler Than Me” on the Coachella stage. After the show, Big Sean paused to express his gratitude for Posner. He also shot out Posner’s entire family, including his father, who passed away in 2017.
While some might view their show as a simple gesture to the past. The relationship between Big Sean and Mike Posner is much deeper than the stages. It was barely a decade ago that they were struggling musicians writing music in the basement of Mike Posner. They played at local colleges and at venues such as Club Bleu and The Shelter.

It’s great to see that they’ve been able to take their friendship and artistic talents across the country from Detroit and on to Coachella Valley.
