Over the past few months, Meek Mill has been quite forthcoming about his dissatisfaction with the major label system. As part of his grievances with Atlantic Records, the rapper spoke about the lack of promotion surrounding his album, Expensive Pain.
Meek Mill Mixtapes On The Way
With a slew of new mixtapes coming in the coming weeks, he appears to be going back to basics. He revealed on social media yesterday that there are Furthermore, he announced he is gearing up to drop new music next month on the anniversary of his father’s death.
It is reported that Meek’s upcoming projects will supposedly not get the same support from the label.
“10 tapes independently starting September,” he tweeted. “New music dropping August 18 the day my dad died is when I start wylinnnnnnn again! I’m not dropping albums on Friday either!”
The rapper elaborated further on Instagram, encouraging brands and sponsors to “take the risk” with him. “Fuck it ima take the risk … a million behind every project! All sponsors connected to me or my brand tap in immediately I need y’all for this riskkkk ima take! #NOMAJORLABELVIBES.”
For anyone who has been following Meeks’s career over the last couple of weeks, this will not come as a surprise. Although he has made it clear there is no bad blood, Meek Mill has confirmed he left Roc Nation Management.
“All I seen today was meek and roc part ways …I’m personally handling my own business so I can take risk and grow ..we came to that agreement together..I have a label deal with roc for my artist and I got reform super tied with them and many other investments wit jigga,” Meek wrote.
