Recently Ma$e addressed rapper Fivio Foreign’s claim that he was only given a $5,000 advance to sign with him. On a recent interview with Million Dollaz Worth of Game, Ma$e clarified that Fivio’s advance was actually $750,000.
Ma$e Sets The Record Straight
“At one time, I gave him $5,000, but I gave him $750,000,” he says. “Because I set him up to do a deal to where I can control the deal, make the deal what it should be because I knew if he had the leverage, he would go in there and sell both of us out.”
“Then, when we went in the building, I took $800,000 and he took $700,000. The reason why it went down to $700,000 is because when I gave him $750,000 and I took $750,000, he owed me $50,000.” Ma$e claims he put $50,000 towards Fivio’s career before he signed his deal with Columbia Records.
Giving Credit Where It’s Due
Later in the interview, Ma$e claimed he was responsible for some of Foreign’s lingo such as his signature, “ay ay ay” found on Foreign’s single ‘Big Drip’. Ma$e also took credit for writing ‘Goin’ Viral’ as well.
“I got to clear my name ‘cause I got other business out there and you threw a real reckless monkey wrench,” he said. “I still love him. Even when I wrote the ‘let’s go viral’ and this was in 2018. I just need y’all to see that. I want everybody to know I’ve been behind the scenes doing business.
“Like the whole ‘go viral.’ Just the lingo. The aye aye aye. I want to be clear. That’s my lingo. If you get famous off something a n-gga gave you, you don’t disrespect me, and I’d do it again.”
How It All Started
The steady back-and-fourth between the two started last week during another interview on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game Podcast featuring Fivio Foreign. There was one point during the conversation that the Brooklyn drill rapper suggested he was currently locked in an unfavorable contract with Ma$e’s record label after feeling ‘pressured’ to sign.
“The n-gga that brought me to him, he was like, ‘Yo, man. Just sign that shit. You bugging,’” he explained. “I’m like, ‘Yeah, read it.’ He’s like, ‘Alright, just sign it. It’s good,’ so I just signed it. Advance was $5,000.”
“I thought that shit was going to last until whenever it was going to last. That shit ain’t last two weeks […] Ma$e know the business. He really know the business a lot. I didn’t know nothing.”
Fivio Foreign also accused Ma$e of trying to “fake explain” his contract on how the money would be divided, though he concluded, “I’m in a better situation now. He gets what he gets, like, whatever he gets but I control all my money and shit like that.”
