By the looks of things, Kanye West could be teasing the addition of another NBA star to his Donda Sports Group. Donda Sports may be interested in signing NBA star Kyrie Irving.
On Friday, July 15th West was spotted conversating with Boston Celtics guard Jaylen Brown and Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving. Brown posted the link-up on his Instagram account with the caption: “Village raises the kid then kid raises the village.”
Immediately, the Kyrie Irving to Donda Sports rumors began to take over the internet. The controversial guard is said to be on the outs with his longtime shoe and apparel sponsor Nike.
Kyrie Irving Contract With Nike:
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Nike is ‘unlikely” to extend Irving’s signature shoe deal past the 2022-23 season. Irving lashed out on social media about the eighth edition of his signature shoe, claiming Nike was set to “release it without my okay” and “I have nothing to do with the design or marketing.”
Irving is one of several celebrities to commend West during the promotional run for Donda 2 early this year. Following a win over the Milwaukee Bucks in February, Irving gave props to Ye during a postgame press conference. When the video clip went viral on social media, Irving doubled down on his support by jumping into the comments section.
“@Kanyewest keeps me motivated God first,” he wrote.
Donda Sports Signings:
Donda Sports has already made headlines by inking former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown to be the company’s President. They also inked a deal with Super Bowl champion Aaron Donald and Jaylen Brown to be marquee figures.
