The Atlanta Hawks faced off against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday (April 13) in a play-in game in the State Farm Arena. The Hawks won an impressive 132-103 win on the night. The NBA playoff game brought many celebrities to the arena, with stars like JAY Z and Nelly watching the game from the court. After, in a press conference, Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young was adamant about how Jay-Z makes an appearance.
“It was crazy,” he declared. “I mean, everyone who was there. There are always lots of people in the building and such But, with Hov in the building, it was really impressive. It’s fun. It’s fun to put on a show, and then bringing home the victory is what’s most important.”
Young completed the evening with a double-double, 24 points and 10 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 block.
Jay-Z’s trip to Atlanta comes after his appearance at Barclays Center in New York City on Tuesday (April 12). After the Brooklyn Nets defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers with a score of 115-108, Cleveland gets a matchup with Atlanta. The game was an Eastern Conference play-in game.
Jay-Z Not the Only Celebrity There
Hov and Nelly weren’t the sole Hip Hop figures inside the State Farm Arena on Wednesday. Alongside Swizz Beatz and Migos, their very own Quavo watched from the sidelines.
In September 2021, Trae Young ignited an online debate over Drake’s Certified Lover Boy album. He did this after Trae Young tweeted, “Yo, when we gonna say Drake has passed Hov ?”
In the wake of the anger with Jay-Z followers, Young later tweeted, “Everybody, Hov #1 to me.” Young also apologized for his actions in a funny manor by sharing an online video of a convicted criminal singing an Adele-inspired tune in the courtroom.
“Hello there, your honor,” the man sings in the video. “I wanna say I’m sorry for the things I’ve done, and I’ll try and be stronger in this life I’ve chosen.”
Trae hopes Jay-Z makes an appearance at their next playoff game which is scheduled for Friday April 15th.
