Gera MX has signed an agreement to sign a deal with Sony Music; Billboard exclusively announced the agreement on May 3rd.
According to the press release, the Mexican rapper and major label have teamed up for a strategic partnership to “continue the steady growth and impact of his career,” according to the press release.
Gera Has Signed Agreement: He Speaks Out on the Accomplishment
Gera MX spoke out on the significant accomplishment. “I feel really excited about this new stage in my career.” He understands the significance of joining the Sony team. He believes Sony will be crucial for his career to continue to grow and believes that they will.
The singer was born in Monterrey and raised in San Luis Potosi. The former Billboard Latin Artist on the Rise has a path that spans more than ten years. He credits artists like Molotov, Control Machete, and King Lil G for sparking his fascination with hip-hop. The year 2014 was when he had an early taste of fame thanks to his hit song “Suelo Sonar y Tropezarme”. This song made him famous for his honest and authentic music.
Last year the song, which got produced by Christian Nodal, “Botella Tras Botella,” a country-infused ranchera and rap combination that came out of the pandemic. The song set records in the Billboard Hot 100 chart as the first Regional Mexican song to enter the chart during its three decades. The song was released at #3 on Hot Latin Songs and in the top 10 on both Global charts at No. 4 on Billboard Global Excl. U.S. and No. 9 on the Billboard Global 200.
President of Sony Music Speaks Out
The president of Sony Music, Roberto Lopez, expressed his excitement about signing Gera. He praises Gera by saying he is an innovative artist and is always looking to improve. Roberto explains what he loved most about Gera was his involvement in finding new sounds, genres, and rhythms. Gera is starting a bridge that brings a movement to the hip-hop scene. Finally, Roberto couldn’t be happier to welcome him to the family and is excited to continue developing his career. Gera MX has signed with Sony Music.
The news of the deal is coming on the heels of Gera MX making his debut appearance during the 2022 Latin American Music Awards. He received the prize for best Regional Mexican song with “Botella Tras Botella.”
Gera, who also serves as director of indie record label Rich Vagos will soon begin a tour in U.S. and Mexico. The tour is called “Triple 4 Tour.
