Prosecutors say that the man who killed Nicki Minaj’s father in a hit-and-run pleads guilty.
Charles Polevich amitted on Friday to leaving the scene that fatally injured Nicki Minaj’s father. According to Nassau County District, along with leaving the scene, Charles Polevich tampered with the evidence.
The charges against Charles are not harsh. Howard Sturim (Nassau County Judge) committed to Polevich that it would not be more than one year in jail. Along with the year in jail, Charles will have community service and his license suspended. He is back in court on August 3rd to get his official sentencing.
Brosh is very upset with the sentencing that the court committed to Charles. However, Brosh believes that the severity of the defendant’s actions should justify a harsher penalty.
Polevich’s attorney speaks out on the issue. He believes that the medical heart issue that his client has contributed to the victim’s death. In addition, there have not been suspicious substances in his system like drugs or alcohol.
Nicki Minaj’s Father Was Just on a Casual Walk
Maraj, who was 64, had been walking, heading toward Mineola, Long Island. Unfortunately, he was struck by a northbound vehicle that left the scene. Maraj was taken to a local hospital and died later that evening. This accident took place in February of 2021.
In a statement made by the Nassau Police Homicide Detective, Polevich tampered with evidence. He told CNN that Polevich hid his white Volvo station wagon to hide it from the police. But, police tracked the car back to the suspect’s house with the help of security footage.
The police believe he knew exactly what he was doing. The security footage shows that he got out of the car and looked at the deceased. But, he then decided to get back in his car and leave the scene. Instead of calling 911 and helping the man, he fled.
The victim’s widow, Carol Maraj, filed a $150 million civil lawsuit. The lawsuit is still pending. Nicki Minaj is devastated by the loss of her father.
