In spite of any lingering beef, Drake attended Kendrick Lamar’s Toronto show on Friday (August 12). After The Big Steppers Tour made its Canadian debut over the weekend, video emerged of the OVO boss watching from a sky box.
The History Between Drake and Kendrick Lamar
Since both rap titans have a long history together, the appearance is somewhat surprising. During the 2013 single “Control,” Kendrick mentioned Drake by rapping, “I got love for you all, but I’m trying to murder you n-ggas,” which was meant as a compliment. Drake, however, did not take it that way, responding to a Billboard interview : “It just sounded like an ambitious thought to me. That’s all it was. I know good and well that Kendrick’s not murdering me, at all, in any platform.”

In the same year, Drake released the “Language” single, which contained the line: “I don’t know why they are lyin’. But you’re shit ain’t that inspirin’,” presumably a subliminal diss toward Kendrick. It’s been a quiet feud ever since.
Was This Petty Drake?
In the comments section, fans wondered if Drake was being petty or if he was showing love. There were also comments stating, “He did that shit on purpose,” “Trying to figure out how to make an actual album that impacts culture” and “Drake wanna be friends again so bad.”
A historic fall from grace occurred for Drake and Kendrick Lamar on Billboard’s charts recently. Drake’s “Texts Go Green” from Honestly, Nevermind fell 81 spots on the Billboard Hot 100 just weeks after Kendrick Lamar’s “We Cry Together” broke the record for biggest weekly drop in Hot 100 history (for a song that remained on the chart).
Regardless, both hip-hop legends continually dominate the Billboard charts on a regular basis. Beginning in Oklahoma City, the North American leg of The Big Steppers Tour moved down the southern coast and up the east coast. At the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio, it continues on Tuesday (August 16).
